Fulham’s under-rated next-door neighbour, Hammersmith is the place many young West Londoners call home. It’s a hive of professional activity, with many companies choosing to put their offices in Hammersmith, and there are loads of great restaurants and bars for after-hours fun. The Eventim Apollo is great for live music and comedy, while the Lyric Theatre is the place to go for some out-there theatre.
But today, we’re going to talk coffee. With all these trendy new residents and workplaces popping up, Hammersmith has responded by providing some excellent places to get a quality caffeine hit when you need it. Here are our five favourite places for coffee in Hammersmith.
28 Fulham Palace Road, Hammersmith, W6 9PH
When Time Out rate a coffee shop one of the best in London, you’d better believe it. Antipode is a taste of Australian coffee and cafe culture in London: by day a coffee and brunch cafe, and by night “a laidback bar serving on point cocktails, natural wines and craft beers.”
They’re supplied by London’s Square Mile Coffee Roasters, and use high-tech specialist equipment to grind and brew their coffee. The food is seasonal and internationally-influenced, with plenty of vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and raw food options.

Carbon Kopi is a neighbourhood coffee shop in Hammersmith and Fulham that has drawn locals from “around the corner” (there are infinite corners!) and beyond. Open seven days from early in the morning to service hardworking ambulance crews and the work from home force, this friendly venue serves speciality single origin coffees in a relaxed environment.
102-104 Shepherds Bush Road, Hammersmith, W6 7PD
Tucked away from the bustle of King Street is GAIL’s Brook Green, famous for its amazing pastries, cakes and bread and delicious coffee. It’s the perfect place when you’re after a baked treat to go with your coffee, and GAIL’s House Blend is locally roasted by Union Hand-Roasted Coffee in East London in small batches, for sweetness and to highlight the blend’s characteristics.
The cafe is cosy, with excellent service from the friendly staff. GAIL’s is a great location for a catch-up with a friend or to knuckle down and get some work done.
17 Crisp Road, Hammersmith, W6 9RL
Cafe Plum’s first location was opened in 1997 in Fulham, and they’ve since expanded to Hammersmith and Putney under the same ownership and management. The cafes are run with pride and dedication, serving simple food made with fresh, local ingredients, and gorgeous coffee from Allpress Espresso.
The food is reasonably priced and the menu is mouth-watering, so you’ll be tempted to stay for a little longer after sampling one of Cafe Plum’s masterfully made coffees.
12-14 Beadon Road, Hammersmith, W6 0DA
