In fact, they ranked number two in the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/worldhappiness.report\/ed\/2017\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">2017 World Happiness Report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">, second only to Norway. With the UK ranking considerably lower at number 19, we might do well to take a leaf or two out of Denmark\u2019s book. And, if you want a specific book, Marie Tourell Soderberg\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguin.co.uk\/books\/298940\/hygge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"><i>The Danish Art of Happiness<\/i><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> is a great place to start!<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><img style=\"width: 1023.98px\" src=\"https:\/\/www.idealflatmate.co.uk\/uploads\/summernote\/2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\" style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">In her book, Soderberg equates a large part of Danish happiness with the concept of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">hygge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">&#8211; a term untranslatable in English but one which is often branded as \u2018cosiness\u2019. As this encyclopedia of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">hygge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> suggests however, there is so much more to this apparent wellspring of happiness.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\" style=\"text-align: left\"><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">Perhaps our difficulty in defining the term is that<\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> hygge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">hyggelig<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> moments (there is a whole vocabulary of hygge terms!) mean different things to different people.<\/span><i> <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguin.co.uk\/books\/298940\/hygge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"><i>The Danish Art of Happiness<\/i><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> explores a collection of individual ideas of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">hygge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> that seem commonly centred around feelings of contentment, warmth, safety and being present in the moment.<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: left\"><b><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 36px\">\u2018We Culture\u2019<\/span><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 36px\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p4\" style=\"text-align: left\"><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">Hygge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> flourishes in and very often hinges upon a sense of belonging, shared experience and community. Psychologist <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibensandahl.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span class=\"s2\" style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">Iben Sandahl<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> says that <\/span><i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\">hygge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-family: Poppins;font-size: 24px\"> generates a \u2018we culture\u2019.
