7 European City Breaks You Haven’t Thought Of

#5 – Seville, Spain

If you’re after more sunshine than Wales can offer, try Seville in southern Spain. Famous for its oranges and flamenco dancing, the city is steeped in history and is home to a riveting mix of stunning Gothic, baroque and medieval architecture. The Roman Catholic Seville Cathedral is allegedly the third-largest church in the world, and is predominantly in the Gothic style, while preserving some elements of the ancient mosque that once stood in its place. Arguably more beautiful, however, is the Real Alcázar, a UNESCO-listed royal palace complex with picturesque courtyards and curated gardens. End your day with a traditional flamenco show – head to Tablao El Arenal where there are two performances each night, and you can enjoy an accompanying tapas dinner.
