This buzzing southwest city will charm the pants right off you, with friendly locals, an acclaimed foodie scene and more art and culture than you can shake a stick at. Its nightlife is second to none, the music scene one of the most revered in the country. And as of 2019, Bristol has been named both the happiest and kindest city in the UK. As such, however, prices aren’t always cheap. Clifton, for example, is one of the city’s most picturesque and sought-after neighbourhoods, but look south of the river -- around Southville and Bedminster -- for colourful streets at a lesser price tag (and still within walking distance to the city centre).
